Jaguar’s C-X16 C-X16 in Neutron White , Production Concept , "Absolutely fantastic"

Jaguar's C-X16 production concept today made its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Ahead of its appearance at the show the all-aluminium C-X16, finished in Neutron White, added a future-looking aspect to the contemporary LA evening skyline on East 6th Street Bridge having first prowled downtown on Mesquit and Matteo Streets.

It's fast, it's beautiful, and it also highlights our commitment to the development of sustainable powertrain technologies.

The two-seater concept marks a new future for Jaguar with respect to technique and design and show a model positioned under the XK-lineup. A next-generation supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 380hp and 450Nm of torque is combined with a Formula 1-inspired hybrid boost system with a steering-wheel mounted button for on-demand acceleration.


Integrated into the eight-speed gearbox is a motor generator which draws power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats for ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Charged through a brake energy regeneration system, the batteries allow the motor to provide an additional 95hp and 235Nm. The final performance results are 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds, a top speed of 300km/h and acceleration from 80-120km/h of 2.1 seconds.

The final setup of the production model will differ from the concept. It is unknown which engines will be used and which features of the sports car will stay.

The new Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel

Jaguar will be in attendance at the New York Auto Show with the facelift version of their XF luxury sedan. The company is headed into 2012 with an addition of a diesel version to the XF engine lineup, which will even be available on the US market.

 
The new 2.2-liter diesel unit will deliver a total of 190 HP and 332 lbs ft of torque, while returning 52.3 mpg on the combined cycle and only 149 g/km of CO2. It will feature a water-cooled turbocharger with low-friction pistons, new injectors, and a new crankshaft. The new configuration allowed Jaguar engineers to add a new oil pan and new electronic systems which affect the crankshaft to allow the new intelligent Stop-Start system to operate more efficiently. The new engine will be mated to an advanced eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, with the seventh and eight ratios effectively acting as overdrive gears.
 
 
With this type of setup, the diesel XF will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 8.5 seconds and will hit a maximum speed of 140 mph.

On the road, the XF has mucho whoosh over a nice wide torque spread, and plenty of refinement nearly all the time. Sometimes you notice the 'box has been set for obsessive economy - get stuck behind a truck at a steady 50mph, and it goes for seventh, leaving the engine grumbling agriculturally at about 1,200rpm. But you always over-ride with the paddles. On a motorway, it's just a distant hum. And as the engine is a bag of cement lighter than the V6, it's even better in sharp corners.
 

As to the numbers, if you compare auto with auto (Jag gives no manual option), the BMW 520d is still a sliver more economical and speedy. But not so's you'd notice. If you like the XF, there's now no rational reason to buy a rival saloon.

It's hard not to be skeptical when reading a report by Automotive News as: "Work is also underway for a compact sedan, a car a few years of production, officials said Jaguar".

It has more than six months since reporting on Jaguar sports saloon "XS" and a new competitor to the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4 above. Unlike, for example, Cadillac ATS, we are still relatively little information about these new competitors in a coveted luxury segment.

Jaguar plans to close a gap in its product range to be seen, but I hope the new sedan, the components of a future sports car Jaguar C-X16 Concept Frankfurt Motor Show, is based was equipped with a turbocharged deystviya. Kontseptsiya 3.0-liter V6 with 376 horsepower. provides a battery hybrid system to a further increase of 94 horsepower.

However, Jaguar wants to go to the contest will be a tough battle,because the brand is not well in the sedan segment in the lastgody.X-Type was well received when it started in the possession of Ford ten years ago. Since then, dethroning market entry luxury sedans saw many beautiful BMW sports, including models like the Infiniti G37.
