Available in four models the CL-Class is a two door grand touring coupe, with seating for four. The CL550 4Matic, CL600, CL63 AMG, and CL65 AMG all include Active Curve Bi-Xenon headlights, sunroof, and a Harman Kardon LOGIC7® audio system. The CL550 4Matic is powered by a 429-hp 4.6-liter V8 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. The CL600 includes a 510-hp bi-turbo 5.5-liter V12 engine and five-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. The high-performance CL63 AMG uses a 536-hp 5.5-liter V8 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission with AMG Speedshift manual shift control. The CL65 AMG coupe includes a potent 604-hp bi-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with AMG Speedshift manual shift control. Standard safety features include front, side, and side curtain airbags, stability control, and traction control. Nightview Assist Plus, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist with automatic brake intervention are available options on most models.

2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S350 BlueTEC

The Mercedes-Benz S-class has more variants than does any other large luxury car, with powerplants ranging from a hybrid to this S350 diesel to two twin-turbo V-8s and two twin-huffed V-12s. Throughout the vast expanse of the range, Mercedes has wisely aligned price with traditional notions of performance.

Powering it is Mercedes’ 3.0-liter V-6 turbo-diesel, seen previously in the ML350 BlueTec. Both the ML and the S pack a more-powerful version of this engine, with a new turbo, new heads, and a host of other changes helping make more power and torque than the version found in, say, the E-class—240 hp versus 210 and 455 lb-ft versus 400.

S and E diesel acceleration comes out about even in our testing: 0-to-60 in 7.0 seconds (S350) to 7.2 (E350). It’s not all due to the increased output, though. The bigger car’s all-wheel-drive system (the E BlueTec is rear-wheel drive only) contributes to the comparable launch times, even if neither Benz diesel can rev out to match the 5.3-second sprint of the last gas-powered S550 we tested. But the sebaceous V-6’s character is resolute, with the same vector-chasing determination of the S550. As in all non-AMG Benzes, throttle response is a bit deliberate, which requires patience but makes it easy to hold an even speed on the highway. A forceful incline of the diesel pedal summons churn that would twist a lesser car apart, and the extra power and torque give the S350 strong passing legs.

     Mercedes-Benz would rather forget the unloved hatchback Sport Coupe from a decade ago, a failed attempt to get on terms with the breed of compact Japanese-made hot rods that were making everyone look twice. Instead, the German maker of luxury cars would like you to look twice at its 2012 Mercedes-Benz C350 Coupe, the first real coupe ever based on the C-Class Sedan.

       Above and beyond this car's sleek silhouette, you'll find a reason to look twice at a new 302-horsepower direct-injected V6 and a surprisingly precise suspension calibration. With a finely crafted cabin and enough telematics for techies to get their geek on, the C350 Coupe should be just the tool to attract a younger, hipper audience into Mercedes showrooms, without compromising the exclusivity to which even the young and hip aspire.

     The top-of-the-line C350 Coupe uses a new direct-injected version of the new DOHC 3.5-liter Mercedes V6. Equipped with variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust valves, it's a smooth runner from start-up to its redline of 6,750 rpm. Power jumps to 302 hp at 6,500 rpm, a substantial increase over the previous 3.5-liter V6's 268 hp at 6,000. There's also more torque — 273 pound-feet compared to 258 lb-ft — although it's produced between 3,500 and 5,250 rpm versus the more tractable 2,400-5,000 of the previous V6.

       The Advanced Agility package allows the driver to switch between a standard suspension setting and firmer Sport. There's a significant difference between the two, and trust us, your backside will notice big bumps in Sport mode.

      The front seats do a nice job of holding you in place during hard cornering thanks to supportive side bolsters on the back of the seat, yet ingress/egress never becomes a problem. The seat cushions are firm in the typical Mercedes style, but they're up to the task of all-day touring. The downside to the coupe's radical roof line is reduced head- and knee room in the backseat (which has two individual buckets). Even though headroom is down by 1.4 inches compared with the sedan, average-size adults can survive back there thanks to cutouts in the roof.

       Even though the Mercedes C-Class Coupe's interior isn't big on flash, it is big on class. The controls have nice detents and the numerous buttons don't feel plasticky or cheap. And the three-spoke steering wheel? A perfectly thick rim with grippy, perforated leather just where you want it at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions.

       But the exterior is what will draw buyers initially to this car, the fastback roof line giving it a sporting flair. The aggressive front end with the two-bar coupe grille demands attention, too. You definitely notice a C-Class Coupe bearing down on you from behind.

        The latest and all-new CL65 AMG appears to largely copy the looks of its lesser CL63 AMG counterpart, but does get a few unique styling cues of its own. The CL65's lone grille bar is wider than that of the CL63, and the lower front splitter gets a metallic treatment.

        Out back is essentially the same story, with the CL65 gaining a chrome accent below its bumper and oval rather than rectangular exhaust outlets, hinting at the CL65’s extra power.

        The biggest news under the CL65 AMG’s long hood is a modest bump in power – from 604 to 621 horsepower. New exhaust gas turbochargers are largely responsible for the increase in power, although the German automaker also chalks up the changes to an increased inlet diameter on the compressor housing and revised engine management electronics. Torque remains 738 lb-ft. from 2,300 to 4,300, but Mercedes-Benz says that the big V12 is capable of an astonishing 885 lb-ft.

        Mercedes-Benz ultimately was forced to de-tune the engine to "just" 738 lb-ft of torque in order to keep from grenading its most robust transmission, a five-speed automatic.

        Available in four models the CL-Class is a two door grand touring coupe, with seating for four. The CL550 4Matic, CL600, CL63 AMG, and CL65 AMG all include Active Curve Bi-Xenon headlights, sunroof, and a Harman Kardon LOGIC7® audio system. The CL550 4Matic is powered by a 429-hp 4.6-liter V8 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. The CL600 includes a 510-hp bi-turbo 5.5-liter V12 engine and five-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. The high-performance CL63 AMG uses a 536-hp 5.5-liter V8 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission with AMG Speedshift manual shift control. The CL65 AMG coupe includes a potent 604-hp bi-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with AMG Speedshift manual shift control. Standard safety features include front, side, and side curtain airbags, stability control, and traction control. Nightview Assist Plus, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist with automatic brake intervention are available options on most models.

2012 Brabus Mercedes-Benz CL 800 Coupe

The new BRABUS 800 Coupe is based on the latest Mercedes-Benz CL 600 BRABUS. The 12-cylinder engine of the CL 600 is reengineered thoroughly in the BRABUS engine-building shop that is equipped with state-of-the-art machine tools. Displacement is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.) with the help of a special BRABUS crankshaft with longer stroke, larger cylinder bore and correspondingly larger forged pistons. Further performance-enhancing modifications to the engine itself are the fine-machining of the two cylinder heads for optimized mixture flow and the installation of four special camshafts.

The engine peripherals are modified extensively as well: the standard twin-turbo system is replaced with a high-end turbocharging system designed by the BRABUS engine specialists. The new system features two custom exhaust manifolds with integrated turbine housings and high-performance turbochargers as well as four water-to-air intercoolers. The combustion air is supplied by a carbon-fiber ram-air intake integrated into the hood. In addition there is a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts.

For the latest model year, the E-Class receives a pair of new engines that are significantly more powerful and fuel-efficient than the units they replace. E350 models receive an all-new 3.5-liter V6 that utilizes direct-fuel injection and a high compression ratio to achieve 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. E550s get a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 that produces 402 ponies and 443 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines hook up to a smooth-shifting seven-speed automatic transmission that helps return 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with the E350 and 16/24 mpg for the E550.

The rest of the E-Class was also redesigned recently, representing a significant step up from its predecessor. In addition to an all-new interior and exterior, the E-Class packs a number of new or improved high-tech features, as is typical of Mercedes-Benz. Despite offering more in virtually every department, the new model lists for $4,600 less than the prior version.

2011 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster in Full Beauty

Mercedes has caused history to repeat itself as they have come out with a roadster version for one of their popular coupes. This trend was seen in the SLR McLaren and will now repeat itself with the SLS AMG coupe version. The SLS AMG Roadster will be revealed in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but right now the car is under extreme testings.

The Mercedes SLS AMG roadster version will be powered by a 6.3-liter V8 engine with 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. However, being a much heavier model, it will rocket from 0 to 60mph in 4.0 seconds before topping out at approximately 192 mph.

Like with the coupe version, the roadster version will feature a long bonnet, large wheels, and a short rear end. Both coupe and roadster versions are also built on an aluminum spaceframe, but due to the omission of a fixed roof and gullwing doors for the roadster, it was necessary to design the side sills more robustly.

The new Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster will be offered with a three-layered fabric soft top which is deposited behind the seats in a Z-formation to save space. The sports car offers a low center of gravity and is designed for speeds up to 196 mph.

Under the hood, the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster  will feature the same engine as the coupe: a 6.3-liter V8 engine located front-mid that will develop 571 hp and up to 479 lb-ft. of torque. The engine will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Mercedes has also announced that the roadster will be capable of a top speed that is just one mph lower than the coupe: 196 mph.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is going racing, and it has its eyes set on conquering the DTM series. That means the standard C-class Coupe gets the typical DTM outfit of a massive front splitter, seductively wide fender flares and a wing large enough on which to throw a party fit for Dance-centrum in Stuttgart.
 
 
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz DTM car features a full carbon fibre monocoque chassis incorporated in with a race-spec sophisticated steel roll cage cabin structure. The structure also includes six specific crumple zones which absorb impacts in key areas.


As far the the body goes, it takes the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe design and extends upon that drastically. There’s wings, foils and vents on every panel, all contributing to enhance aerodynamic downforce and to improve air flow through and around the car – take a look at the size of that rear wing.

2012 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG coming to LA Auto Show

We've known for quite some time that Mercedes-Benz is prepping a hardcore AMG variant of its new-for-2012 M-Class crossover, and according to Car and Driver, it appears that the production model will debut next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show.




Aside from revised aesthetics and a spiffed-up interior, the big change for the 2012 ML63 AMG will likely be under the hood. As much as we love the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 found in the outgoing model, we'd hardly be surprised to find Merc's new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 under the hood of the next ML63. Elsewhere in the automaker's lineup, this engine produces 518 horsepower (or 550 hp with the optional performance pack), so we'd expect a healthy increase versus the old ML63's 503 hp and 465 pound-feet of torque.
