2012 Honda Ridgeline's new Sport trim package, which adds several exterior changes to our favorite unibody pickup. But if you're wondering about changes to other models, our spies have come through with the photos Honda doesn't want you to see.

                                                       2012 Honda Ridgeline RT Overview

Other Ridgeline models, including the high-end RTL version caught here during hot weather testing, are set to receive a new three-bar grille that's similar to the 2012 Honda Pilot crossover's grille, plus restyled taillights. We hear there will be several minor interior changes as well

                                                       2012 Honda Ridgeline RT Overview

Ridgeline's all-aluminum, 60-degree, SOHC 3.5-liter VTEC engine produces 250 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 247 lb-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm. Variable valve timing enhances low rpm torque while extending high rpm horsepower for a broad power band. The 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission features Grade Logic Control to help maintain the most appropriate gear when going uphill or downhill to avoid gear "hunting." The fully automatic Variable Torque Management® 4-wheel drive system (VTM-4®) provides confident operation in rain, snow, ice, sand and mud, while also improving on-road and towing performance by distributing torque to all four wheels as needed. The system operates predominately in front-wheel-drive during dry-pavement cruising conditions and continuously proportions torque to the rear wheels during acceleration and low traction situations. VTM-4 lock button located on the instrument panel allows the driver to temporarily hold engagement of both rear wheels to aid traction while in gears "1" and "2" at speeds of up to 18 mph.

                                                         2012 Honda Ridgeline RT Overview

The Ridgeline RTS adds the following to the RT: exclusive 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a seven-pin trailer wiring connector, body-color painted door handles, painted inner grille surfaces, a seven-speaker 160-watt audio system with subwoofer, six-disc in-dash CD system, steering wheel-mounted controls, an auxiliary audio input jack; dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, privacy glass and all-weather floor mats.

Exclusive Ridgeline RTL features include leather-trimmed interior with heated front seats, exclusive 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, fog lights, moonroof, 115-volt power outlet, XM Radio1, HomeLink® remote system, carpeted floor mats and a compass in the rearview mirror.

The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™2 with Voice Recognition and Zagat Survey® restaurant information is available on RTL models. It includes XM Radio3, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, a multi-information display and a back-up camera display. The navigation system includes a compass, thus eliminating the compass in the rearview mirror.

For the 2012 model year, Honda has dropped the Accord from the Accord Crosstour crossover making the official name of the car – the 2012 Honda Crosstour.

                                                            2012 Honda Crosstour
The 2012 Honda Crosstour is still available in two trim levels, the Crosstour EX and EX-L, with Real Time 4WD also available on the EX-L model. There is still no 4-cylinder option so power still comes from a 3.5 liter V6 making 271 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 254 lb-ft. of torque at 5,000 RPM. No major gain in fuel-economy numbers so it still achieves 18/27/21 mpg (city/highway/combined) on 2WD models and 18/26/21 mpg on 4WD models.

So what’s new for the 2012 Honda Crosstour besides the name? It’s all summed up in this little paragraph right here:

“For 2012, new features on the Crosstour EX include auto on/off headlights, a rearview camera, Bluetooth Hands Free Link and USB audio interface. Two new colors are also available on all Crosstour models: Twilight Blue Metallic replaces Glacier Blue Metallic, and Basque Red Pearl replaces Tango Red Pearl.”

                                                                  2012 Honda Crosstour

The front-wheel-drive Crosstour EX starts from $29,990, while the more upscale EX-L starts at $32,890. The all-wheel-drive package is only available with the EX-L model, starting at $34,340. Adding navigation adds a further $2,200 to the price tag, for a total of $34,770 with 2WD and $36,540 with AWD.

Although visually similar to the upcoming Acura ZDX, the Crosstour does not ride on the ZDX's platform. Based on a modified Honda Accord chassis, the Crosstour is being produced at Honda's East Liberty factory in Ohio (the ZDX will be produced in Alliston, Ontario).

Prices for the 2012 Honda Crosstour:

    2012 Honda Crosstour 2WD EX: $30,340.
    2012 Honda Crosstour 2WD EX-L: $32,990.
    2012 Honda Crosstour 4WD EX-L: $36,540.

Although the Honda Insight was eagerly awaited before it launched as a 2010 model, the little hybrid hatchback has never come remotely close to its sales goals.
But the company isn't giving up, and the new 2012 Honda Insight features revised front styling, a nicer interior, and improved gas mileage ratings.

2012 Honda Insight EX Hybrid Overview , New Front Styling

The Insight's hybrid powertrain features a 1.3-liter eight-valve, i-VTEC four-cylinder engine paired with a DC-brushless electric motor, and is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The gas engine provides for 98 peak horsepower at 5,800 rpm, and 123 lb-ft of torque in the range of 1,000 to 1,700 rpm. the electric motor adds 12 horsepower at 1,500 rpm, and 58 torque at 1,000 rpm.

The front of the Insight now features a redesigned--Honda calls it "more distinctive'--grille with a thin blue accent bar to underscore the Insight's hybrid technology, along with a reshaped bumper. The internal reflectors of the headlights have also been updated.

2012 Honda Insight EX Hybrid Overview , New Front Styling
New covers for the 15-inch wheels on lower-line models are standard, and the upscale Insight EX model sports restyled 15-inch alloy wheels. Honda has also widened the tires slightly for better grip.

The base model comes with automatic climate control, power windows and locks and six airbags, while EX models of the Insight feature standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, as well as alloy wheels, cruise control and stability control.

Honda hopes to build 200,000 units annually, with half of that production to be sold in the United States.

That represents no change from the outgoing Civic, although the new car boasts more interior room and a more responsive chassis, as well as uprated fuel economy and the availability of a new natural gas model set to be available nationwide.

That $15,805 gets you a base Civic DX coupe with a five-speed manual transmission and no radio or air conditioning. Honda figures that most buyers will bypass the price leader to pony up for the $17,855 Civic LX sedan (add $800 for an automatic). The efficiency-oriented Civic HF sedan will list from $19,455 with a standard five-speed automatic, while the range-topping Civic EX-L sedan with navigation and XM Satellite Radio stickers for $23,455.

The new larger displacement engine in the Civic Si delivers peak power at a more accessible 7000 rpm compared to the previous Si engine’s 7800 rpm power peak. The engine’s increased displacement results in a substantial 22-percent increase in peak torque. The new 170 lb-ft rating occurs at just 4400 rpm, 1700 rpm lower than the previous engine’s 139 lb-ft at 6100 rpm. Even with its increase in displacement, horsepower and torque, the 2012 Civic Si has an estimated EPA city rating of 22 mpg (up 1 mpg compared to the 2011 Civic Si) and increases highway fuel economy with a rating of 31 mpg (up 2 mpg compared to the 2011 Civic Si). In addition, the Civic Si engine meets strict Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV-2) emissions standards
.
The Honda Civic Si is available exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter. Designed to be compact and lightweight, the 6-speed has also been engineered to provide quick and precise shift action. The Civic Si also includes a clutch with a torsion mechanism that enhances refinement in terms of engagement and feel.

Flooding in Thailand has begun making serious waves in the U.S. According to a press release, the disaster will force Honda to scale back production at facilities across the U.S. and Canada in coming weeks, and there's a distinct possibility that the automaker will miss its December launch window for the 2012 CR-V.

Honda will officially take the wraps off its 2012 CR-V at the LA Auto Show next week, with the first examples hitting showrooms before the end of the year. It's common knowledge that the new CR-V will continue to use Honda's 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, though mated to a new (or, at least, revised) transmission that will enhance both performance and fuel economy. The CR-V's interior gets a healthy update, too, with some new materials used throughout the cabin. The overall form and function of the interior, however, won't differ much from the current model.

The problem, Honda says, lies with the CR-V's electrical components. Though the majority of Hondas made in North America are manufactured with products from North American suppliers, "a few critical electronic parts are sourced from Thailand and other regions of the world". Honda says it is working with suppliers throughout its network to address the shortages. We'll keep you updated on the company's progress.
[......]

Honda would love nothing more than to sell a boatload of Civic sedans and coupes. Problem is, there just aren't enough of them to go around. Speaking to Inside Line, Chuck Schifsky, an American Honda Motor Co. spokesman, said :

"Civic sales are down for one simple reason: Low dealer inventory as a result of a shortage of small parts caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake earlier this year, which nearly halted production of the 2012 Civic... This is a supply problem, not a demand problem. There just aren't any Civics on dealer lots."

2012 Honda Civic

Not only did the earthquake and tsunami in Japan cause production problems, the current flooding in Thailand "will cause another delay in production," says Schifsky. In other words, if you're in the market for a new Civic, you'll likely find yourself waiting for a while.

It's also worth mentioning that we've heard reports that public response to the 2012 Civic has not been the resounding success Honda had hoped for, leading to the possibility that a refresh of the compact will come sooner rather than later.
